Incumbent
My name is Scott
Wallman and I am running for the Democratic seat on the Zoning Board
of Aappeals (ZBA). I have lived in Brookfield since 1999 with my wife Terri
and my two boys Shai and Brit. I have been employed with IBM for
28 years.
I have served
as a member of the ZBA since January of 2005 and am seeking re-election
to this post. Of the many boards and committees within the Brookfield
town government, I find this board critically important as it provides
a mechanism for the community to appeal decisions they believe have
been made incorrectly. The appeals process is fundamental to a town’s
governmental process of checks and balances.
I clearly understand
the decisions of the ZBA impact the business or homeowner making
the appeal, their neighbors, and in some cases all of us in Brookfield.
Understanding this responsibility, prior to each meeting I familiarize
myself with each appeal that is slated on the evening’s agenda,
whether it be visiting the site or conducting additional research
at town hall to better understand the history of the particular
appeal.
I have enjoyed
working with my fellow members and the ZBA Chairman (Marty Flynn)
and comfortably believe the board functions well as a non-partisan
unit. It has not been my objective or the objective of the board
to work under a preconceived plan to the number of appeals we approve
or reject, but to review the facts of each individual appeal and
make a reasonable and fair decision working within the guidelines
of the town statues.
I would like to continue serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals
and ask for your support in the upcoming election.
