Personal Biography
Before I entered into the career of being a Mom, I spent nine years working in Manhattan and Washington D.C. in various marketing roles. I graduated Muhlenberg College in 1993 with a Bachelors of Arts, with a major in Communications. After graduating, I began working at BMG Entertainment in Manhattan, and moved within BMG, as the marketing manager for the Mid-Atlantic region, based out of Washington, D.C.
I moved back to New York as a marketing executive working in the publishing world for Men’s Health and Martha Stewart Living. I was responsible for creating and implementing marketing programs for advertisers in the magazine. During the process of creating a program, I managed budgets, was part of sales negotiations and completely responsible for implementing and executing the programs, within budget.
When I moved to Brookfield with my husband, Patrick, I took a job with a marketing agency in Stamford, where I was an Account Supervisor. I managed all in-store promotions for Kraft and Nabisco. Programs required managing multi-million dollar budgets, communication and execution.
After I had my first child, I decided to freelance for the same marketing agency. I continued to work on the Kraft account until I stopped working completely when my second child turned one year old.
Since that time, I have thoroughly enjoyed raising my two children in Brookfield with my husband, and getting to know so many of the wonderful families who make this town our home.
Focus and Goals
I believe the role of a Board Member is to help influence the school district's course of action with three goals:
- Maintaining fiscal responsibility
- Striving to meet the needs of all students
- Providing teachers and students with the training and tools necessary to succeed
One of my primary goals will be to encourage extensive strategic planning before implementing new initiatives, and to educate parents and community members on the risks and rewards of these plans as they are being considered.
I would like measurements for accountability to be established prior to beginning a program. If an implemented program is shown to have positive effects—and the outcome is shared—I believe it will help the public understand and support the budget needs of our district.
Finally. we need to provide teachers and administrators with the support, training and tools necessary to make well planned initiatives successful, continuing the progress in our education system.
